No interview this week, I didn't have time to do it. We've already 15 games played (well, actually 18 but let's pretend it's 15, okay) and we're starting to see which teams will be the ones to beat this season. CONTENTS: 1- Overall team stats 2- More team stats 3- Rookie report 4- Player of the week 5- Goaltender of the week 6- Weekly trades 7- Trading blocks 1- OVERALL TEAM STATS: The teams are ranked primarily by the percentage, and then, in case of a tie, by the number of wins, and finally, in case of another tie, by the difference between the GF and GA. Last week, there was some very hot teams and some very cold. The Sparrows (who would have tought that last season) move from the 7th spot to the first. The Fury, from 14th to 4th, the Warriors, from 19th to 8th, and the Vikings from 19th to 9th. This stuff takes a lot of time to compile and I don't have time enough to do it every week. If someone would like to help... 4- PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD: I received like 9 or 10 team's nominations for the player and tender of the week. That's not bad but I'd still like more participation. For a second consecutive week, Alexei Zhamnov of the Vikings is our player of the week. Zhamnov had a total of 10 goals and 3 assists in 5 games for a grand total of 13 points. The runners up were 2 rookie sensations, both d-men, Brian Berard of the Sparrows and Brian McCabe of the Dominators. Hebert (can't be a bad player with a name like that) took part in 3 games last week, winning all 3 and allowing only 3 goals. The runner up is Felix Potvin of the Sparrows. Also, a special mention goes to John Vanbiesbrouck of the Agents. With the amount of rubber the guy sees, he coudn't do better than that. The biggest name who wore a new jersey last week was Joe Nieuwendyk. Some other good players changed team like, Petr Klima, Sylvain Cote, Nelson Emerson, Rob Blake, Chad Kilger and Jason Arnott. The Flaming Fish was particulary active, taking part in 6 of the 7 trades. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To the VIKINGS: Jason Arnott Jeff Shantz To the FLAMING FISH: Chad Kilger Steve Washburn ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To the VOODOO: Rob Blake To the FLAMING FISH: Nelson Emerson ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To the AGENTS: Brian Bellows 4th round draft pick To the FLAMING FISH: Derek Mayer Evgeny Davydov ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To the VOODOO: Markus Naslund To the WOLVES: 5th round draft pick ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To the HUSKIES: John Rohloff To the FLAMING FISH: Glenn Anderson ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To the FLAMING FISH: Peter Klima Sylvain Cote To the CORINTHIANS: Joe Nieuwendyk Philippe Boucher ------------------------------------------------------------------------- To the FLAMING FISH: Cam Hulse To the CORINTHIANS: 6th round draft pick ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7- TRADING BLOCKS: SPARROWS: Jon Casey G Jason Dawe LW LUNATICS: Jocelyn Thibeault G Dan Kesa RW Jeff Brown D WOLVES: Garth Snow G Joe Mullen RW Brian Benning D Viacheslav Fetisov D DOMINATORS: Josef Beranek Bob Bassen LW Mike Hudson Dave Reid -Looking for defense --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Send comments, suggestions, NOMINATIONS... to: MARC HEBERT Official WHL newsman fj491599@er.uqam.ca CAUTION!
