WHL WEEKLY : Playoff Edition, Season 1, Fourth Issue In this issue, 1. WHL News 2. Playoff Highlights and Records 3. Playoff Overtime Goals 1. WHL News First, I have to mention the performance of the players of the Huskies, especially Brendan Shanahan and Jeff Norton. The Huskies were behind 2-1 in their series against the Wolfpack, and their GM Shaun Driver had to leave them for health reasons. Well the Huskies came from behind and eliminated the Wolfpack in 6 games. This is the performance of the week. We are left now with 4 teams: Wales Conference Championship : Albany Mallrats against Hamilton Hitmen Campbell Conference Championship: Bridge City Huskies against Texas Kodiaks The Mallrats are very powerful with Mario Lemieux (going for the Conn Smythe Trophy) and Eric Lindros. The Hitmen had a tremendous second half of season, due mostly to a couple of great trades by their GM Lorne Clark, and only lost 1 game in the playoffs so far. Look for an explosive series. In the other division, well we already talked about the Huskies and their absent GM. They will be facing an improved team in the Kodiaks. Noone would have bet on the Kodiaks to go that far in the playoffs, especially facing the Rapids, then the Vikings, who won their Division Title. The Kodiaks took a 2-0 lead in their series against the Huskies! This is certainly disappointing for the Huskies. The Kodiaks are playing so well, but we have to wonder where they take their inspiration. They only have an interim GM in Jason Stumpf, who replaced Jud.Burkett after he decided to quit hockey. Rumour is that Kevin Sharples had to leave the WHL, being too busy with other GM duties in other leagues... The Wolfpack are now for sale. 2.
