WHL WEEKLY : Playoff Edition, Season 1, Fifth Issue In this issue, 1. WHL News 2. Playoff Records 3. League Rules 4. Board of Directors 5. Terminated Players 1. WHL News Well it seems the Huskies missed their GM a lot in the last series. They offered no opposition to the Kodiaks, who surprisingly made it to the finals. The Kodiaks never lost a game since Michael Hebert took over the League. In the Wales Conference Championship Series, The Mallrats finally beated the Hitmen in the seventh and last game of the series. It was an exciting series, we could never know who would win. The Mallrats are powerful, but sometimes there is a game where they don't seem to show up. They did when it counted. In other news, some GM's who announced earlier that they wanted to leave the league decided to stay. GM of the Hermitage Bangers, Kevin Nash, is one of them. Kevin Sharples, GM of the Wolfpack, changed his mind and decided to stay too. Most of us know that these two guys are also Commissioner of a league, but we are glad that they are able to stay in the WHL. There is also the return of Jud Burkett, GM of the Kodiaks. There is a mystery about him, and where he was all this time. But it seems he is back to help his team in the battle against the Mallrats for the Cyber Cup. Just in, the Moscow Blizzard are shopping for a new arena. There is a dispute between a few cities in Denmark all of which would very much like to become home to the Blizzard. Hopefully they'll make their decision soon. This is what the new GM of the Blizzard, Lori Steward, said in a short interview last week. 2. This will give us the chance to start next season a lot sooner, and give me the chance to get some experience as commish before we add these extra features. Sorry for those who wanted it (I got 10 GM's opinion, 2 YES). Also, I asked the Board of Directors if we should ammend the suspension rule for the playoffs. My proposition was to lower the suspension to 1 game during the playoffs, if a player gets more 16 or more PIM in a game. But all the answers were to keep it like it is. The message we want to send the players is that if you can't behave, you will have to accept the consequences, anytime. 4.Board of Direectors I want to create a new Board of Directors for the league. We will have to look what are the positions we still need. I want interested people, who are willing to give a little extra time to make this league better and more enjoyable. Please contact me if you are interested (I have already some of you in mind, if you don't contact me I will ask you). 5.Terminated Players The following players have been terminated from the league, according to the league rules. They have been released and were never claimed. They are listed with their last team. Jose Charbonneau, Boston Agent Orange Pavol Demitra, Moscow Blizzard Denny Felsner, St.John's Grunts Todd Harkins, Moscow Blizzard Terry Hollinger, Boston Agent Orange Craig Martin, Bridge City Huskies Don McSween, Moscow Blizzard Scott Thomas, Newfoundland Gangstaz Brent Thompson, Moscow Blizzard Please note that some of them might come back in the next entry draft, with possibly new ratings. Created and written by Michael Hebert, Commissioner of the Web Hockey League.
