Zhamnov should get more than strong consideration for league MVP. Desjardins, who was a 4th round selection, was the 2nd best scoring defenceman in the WHL and solid at both ends all year long. Scott Young led the club with 8 game winners and was a solid performer on the right side all year. Other notable Vikes include the goaltender tandem of Roy and hotshot rookie Jamie Storr, Owen Nolan, Steve Chiasson and the surprising Steve Washburn. It was a great first year in Edmonton and expectations are high for the playoffs. Zhamnov had great success against the Voodoo all year long, a 4 and a 3 point game, and many believe the Viking have the depth and the goaltending to at least win the conference.
