With a total home attendance over the games of 17 fans, 2 dogs, and a pigeon, compounded by the fact that they hadn't won a single game, management felt it was time to get out. Meetings took place during game 4 as the stick boy coached the team to an overtime loss and when it was all over, the Kazoos had been sold to business partners Carson Pierce and Larry Berteotti. By game 5, the team had been moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, and had been renamed the Halifax Flaming Fish. With Berteotti behind the bench and Pierce in the GM's office, the Fish picked up their first win of the season, 4-1 over the Clowns. "This team needed to be turned around and that's what I'm here to do," said Berteotti after the game. But more than solid coaching will be needed for this team to find their feet, and that's where Pierce comes in. Shortly after the game, a trade was confirmed that sent Todd Bertuzzi and Dominic Roussel to the Pittsburgh Quakers in return for Ron Hextall and Brian Bellows. "We needed a solid number one goalie and now we have him. What we need to do next is beef up our scoring," commented Pierce.
